Brise Soleil – (Solar Shading) System

Overview

The APA Façade Systems Brise Soleil (solar shading) system is highly adaptable and works with all of our façade and window systems. It helps reduce solar gain, control daylight and improve the overall appearance of the building.

Blade Options

The system uses elliptical blades ranging from 160 mm to 450 mm. These blades can enhance the shading performance of many building types. Their size options give architects freedom to design both subtle and bold shading features.

Flexible Installation

Our Brise Soleil system includes a wide range of fixing brackets. These brackets give architects flexibility when planning the façade. You can install the blades directly into our ST window range for ribbon-window designs.
Alternatively, you can mount the system onto a traditional curtain wall grid to create a larger shading feature.

Performance and Testing

We use specially designed extruded aluminium brackets for both horizontal and vertical panels. These brackets can be painted or anodised to match the façade. They have also undergone full load-bearing tests by the CWCT.
In addition, the complete shading assemblies have passed stability and durability testing at a UKAS-approved laboratory using wind-load generators.

Design Options

We design each Brise Soleil panel to suit the building’s specific needs. Horizontal blades can be assembled onto side plates before delivery. This reduces labour on site and speeds up installation.
The vertical runners that hold the blades can fix directly to curtain wall systems or to surrounding structures such as brick walls, blockwork or cladding. This flexibility makes the system suitable for a wide range of building types.
