APA Facade Systems are proud to see our curtain wall systems and bespoke rooflights feature on one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in Limerick City – The International Rugby Experience.
This is one of the most exciting developments in Limerick City in recent years and will result in a huge increase in tourism. The aim is to provide a new space to draw visitors to Limerick, as well as providing a new hub for the local community. It has already been visited by Hollywood A-lister Bill Murray during a recent visit to Ireland.
Takes you on a journey from the grass roots of rugby to legendary status
The Internation Rugby Experience is a “fully immersive, hands on, multi-sensory experience designed to engage and inspire. Split into six zones, each completely different from the next, it will take you on a journey from the grass roots of rugby right up to legendary status – with each stage rooted in World Rugby’s values of Passion, Discipline, Integrity, Solidarity and Respect.”
This spectacular landmark building features unparalleled, birds-eye views of Limerick City. Taking inspiration from the spires and architecture within Limerick City, Níall McLoughlin Architects designed a seven-storey tower, with a striking red brick facade on every elevation of the building.
Working with their sustainability team, Niall McLoughlin Architects ensured that this NZEB compliant building provides adequate heating, cooling and fresh air to the space to ensure that all visitors would comfortably enjoy their time there.
APA’s curtain wall system and bespoke rugby ball shaped roof lights were fabricated and installed by Alutec Facades Ltd on this development. They provide a huge amount of natural light to the internal environment of the building.
The International Rugby Experience was developed by Flynn and is expected to open its doors to the public in the new year.
Best of luck to CEO, Barry Hannon board members Paul O’Connell, Keith Wood and the whole International Rugby Experience team, we can’t wait to visit once doors officially open.
