Our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apafacadesystems.com\/staging\/products\/tb50-facade-systems\/\">TB50 curtain wall<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apafacadesystems.com\/staging\/products\/st70hi-inward-opening-tilt-and-turn\/\">ST70 Hi thermally enhanced tilt &amp; turn windows<\/a>, and door systems were installed by West.<\/p>\n<p>The development, under the HSE national &amp; regional agreement, is part of a phased strategy to relocate ophthalmic services from Cork University Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/reddyarchitecture.com\/opd-south-infirmary-cork\/\">Reddy Architecture &amp; Urbanism<\/a>, this 1,181 sq m development has three-storeys to the front and a single storey to the rear is designed in a way that allows for a potential two-storey future expansion.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Booth, associate director with Reddy A + U, said as the OPD building is conceived to treat patients with sight difficulties, the design is focused on creating a facade that is \u201cpredominantly tactile\u201d. The ground floor window openings are positioned to form the word \u201cOphthalmology\u201d in Braille.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the sensitivity needs of the patients, the ground floor windows were purposely designed with small sashes to restrict\/control the amount of light entering the building while maintaining natural ventilation and privacy to the various rooms.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/clancy.ie\/\">Clancy Construction<\/a> was the main contractor on this exciting \u20ac6 million project.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8947 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.apafacadesystems.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2020\/11\/2-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital, Cork\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.apafacadesystems.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2020\/11\/2-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.apafacadesystems.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2020\/11\/2-1365x1024.jpg 1365w, https:\/\/www.apafacadesystems.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2020\/11\/2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.apafacadesystems.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2020\/11\/2-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.apafacadesystems.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2020\/11\/2.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ophthalmology Outpatients&#8217; Department Building at South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital, Cork The Ophthalmology Outpatients Department building at South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital in Cork is complete.
